Idiot who hacked Sarah Palin
04.20.2010
So, I’ve been watching a lot of Fox News lately because I’ve had to sit with the dog. I prefer it to CNN because the reporting is just crazy and casual. So today, here’s the case about some kid hacking Sarah Palin’s e-mail box that I find amusing (my comments follow):
Knoxville, TN (Apr 20) – David Kernell, a 22-year-old former University of Tennessee college student, charged with hacking into then Governor, Sarah Palin’s email accounts has stated his concerns regarding being able to receive a fair trial in the heavily republican state of Kentucky.
The U.S. District Judge presiding over the trial, Thomas Phillips has denied defense motions to have jurors respond to a pre-selection questionnaire regarding any affiliations or support for then Vice President Candidate Palin.
The prosecution accuses the defendant, David Kernell the son of Representative Mike Kernell (D-KY), of identity theft, wire fraud, and obstruction of justice. Palin has been subpoenaed to testify at his trial.
Kernell faces prison time if convicted on all charges regarding hacking Palin’s online Yahoo account by simply guessing at security questions and resetting Palins password, and reposting information regarding Palin’s personal email account online using the alias “rubico.”
Blog postings found on the web suggest it took very little effort for the defendant to allegedly guess the then governor’s password by answering security questions which consisted of a combination of her “zip code”, and location to where she met her husband.
The original federal indictment in the case, unsealed October 7, 2008 states a single count of accessing without authorization the email account of Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
Palin is expected to draw a larger crowd of supporters outside the courthouse as she appears to testify.
What do I personally think? It’s a bunch of bull of course. I mean, wherever he goes, he’s going to be found guilty. First of all, this court will include people who are 18+ of age, all who don’t particularly like that setting, they just got forced to do it. They also get singled out, meaning that they go back and forth and get to have their say in what they believe. If someone just goes in there and says, “Oh, I’m going for what Sarah Palin is saying because I support her,” you’ll most likely get the boot. Otherwise, it’s unfair for both parties.
My dad had to sit in a case a few years ago, he was one of the few people who got to sit the whole thing. He told me there were a lot of crazies that had no clue what they were on about, they of course got told that they could leave. If you’re not even paying attention on what’s being said by both parties, there’s no point in having you there. That’s why they have rules on who can and cannot attend jury duty.
I’m not sure that this kid understands the court system, but he’s making a fuss about nothing.
